The Fire Dept took receipt of Rescue 61. A 2000 Kenworth that was purchased from Kingwood WV Fire Dept. The unit was refurbished by Ron's Garage of Eighty-Four, PA. This unit replaces a 1988 Ford Rescue.

 
Firefighter 2 Certification

The Waynesburg Franklin Twp Volunteer Fire Company would like to congratulate Hogan Barnhart and Chris Lash in receiving their National Pro Board Firefighter 2 Certification. Currently the Fire Department has 25 members certified to Firefighter 1 standards including 13 certified to Firefighter 2 standards. The Department also has 3 members certified to Pro Board Hazardous Materials Operations Level and 5 members certified to National Pro Board Fire Service Instructor 1. The Department does have 5 PA Fire Academy Suppression Instructors.

The Waynesburg Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company is saddened by the recent death of past Fire Chief Harry B. Patton. Chief Patton joined the fire company on September 7, 1961. He officially retired on August 17, 1976. Chief Patton was Fire Chief in 1972. Harry also served as Assistant Chief in 1970 through 1971 and as Captain from 1964 to 1969. At the request of the family all arrangements will be private and held at the convenience of the family. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity or church of your choice. Chief Patton served the Waynesburg Community for many years. Thank you for your many years of service and guidance. Please keep the Patton Family in your thoughts and prayers.

 
Firefighter 1 Certifications

EQT Grant

Fire Department received a $50,000 grant from the EQT Foundation that will go towards the purchase of 4 new MSA Evolution 6000 Thermal Imaging Cameras. Cameras will be placed in each of our 3 engines and the command vehicle. The Fire Department wishes to thanks EQT for their kind donation.

Passing of Past Assistant Chief

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Past Assistant Chief, George “Jed” Howard.   Jed joined the company in 1979 and held the line officer positions of Lieutenant and Captain for a number of years.  Jed was Assistant Chief from 1986 thru 1993.

The Waynesburg Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company will hold a Memorial Service on Wednesday January 16, 2013 at 6pm.  The Fire Company will also attend the Funeral Service on Thursday January 17, 2013 at 11am.

Any and all fire departments that wish to participate are welcome.

Jed served the Waynesburg Community for many years.  Thank you for your many years of service.

Regional Collapse Rescue Training

The Waynesburg Franklin Twp VFC participated in a regional collapse rescue training exercise put on by the Region 13 Task Force.  The scenario was a collapse of a concrete and steel structure with people trapped inside.  The fire company was assisted by the Jefferson Volunteer Fire Company, EMS Southwest, Greene County Emerency Management, Washington County Department of Public Safety, and the Region 13 USAR Team.  The exercise was held at the Mine Training and Technology Center in Ruff Creek, PA.  Thanks to all that helped with this valuable training.

The Passing of Charles Van-Druff

The Waynesburg Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company is saddened by the recent death of Charles W. Van-Druff. Mr. Van-Druff joined the fire company on September 1, 1956.  Mr. Van-Druff was a member of the Company for over 40 years and served as Trustte for many of those years.

The Fire Company will have a visitation and memorial service on Thursday November 1, 2012 at 7pm at the Behm Funeral Home.

Mr. Van-Druff served the Waynesburg Community for many years. Thank you for your many years of service.

The Passing of Robert W. Fox

The Waynesburg Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company is saddened by the recent death of Robert W. Fox.  Mr. Fox joined the fire company on May 6, 1948.  He officially retired on January 6, 2011.  Mr. Fox was a member of the Company for over 62 years and served as President for 28 of those years. 

The Fire Company will have a visitation and memorial service on Thursday May 17 at 6pm at the Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home.

Mr Fox served the Waynesburg Community for many years.  Thank you for your many years of service and guidance.

Waynesburg - Franklin Twp. VFC Receives AFG Grant to Replace County Fire Radio System

We are pleased to announce that we have received official confirmation that we have been awarded our 2011 Assistance to Firefighters Grant through FEMA. This grant will replace the countywide fire radio communications. With this grant we will be able to replace all Mobile Radios, Portable Radios, Pagers, and Base Stations for all of the fire companies in Greene County. In addition, we will also be purchasing 4 base stations that will be used by Greene County 911.

The Waynesburg Franklin Twp VFC responded to a reported structure fire at 185 West Elm Street in Waynesburg Borough.  Fire was extinguished.  Assisted on scene by Jefferson VFC, Waynesburg PD, and EMS Southwest.


 
New Members Welcomed
Over the past couple of months the Waynesburg Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company welcomed 5 new members to our roster.  Those new members are Mike Wade, John Gump, Dan Fox, Trent Hopkins, and Mike Caldwell.

We are finally able to allow everyone to view or download a copy of the picture tribute video that was put together by Beth Barnhart.  We can't say enough how grateful we are for the time, effort, and thought put in to this by Beth.  To access the video, click on the 85th Anniversary page on our website and it will lead to a link.  To play the video, click the link called "85th Anniversary Video Download".  To download the video, Right click the link "85th Anniversary Video Download" and choose save as and you can choose where to save it on your computer.  Once all of the pictures come in from the photographer from the evening, we will be placing them on the website also.


 
Fire Company to Celebrate 85th Anniversary This Week

The Waynesburg - Fraknlin Twp. Volunteer Fire Company will celebrate its 85th Anniversary with a dinner at the Waynesburg University Dining Hall.  The Fire Company was formed on March 4th, 1926.  We will be posting some pictures from the dinner later on next week so stop back.
