It is with regret we announce the passing of retired member Allen Harding. A Fire Company Memorial Service is scheduled for 7:00 PM on Friday, June 26, 2008 at the Behm Funeral Home in Waynesburg. We would ask that any members attending, please arrive at the Funeral Home at 6:50 P.M and if you have a Dress Uniform please wear it. Our condolences go out to his entire family.

The Christian Sandbox pre-school visited the Waynesburg Station on Monday May 18th.  They learned about basic fire safety/prevention and watched the Sesame Street video “Elmo visits the Firehouse”.  They also learned about strangers from the Waynesburg Borough Police Department.  Over 50 kids and grown-ups were in attendance.

Fire Company Responds to Structure Fire

The Waynesburg - Franklin Twp. Volunteer Fire Company responded to 2662 Smith Creek Road in Franklin Twp this morning for a Structure Fire at the old Blair Beauty Shop building.  The call came in around 6:17 AM.  The Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal is investigating the fire.

Fire Company Receives Grant From WalMart

The Waynesburg - Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company received a $2,500 donation from the newly opened WalMart in Franklin Twp recently.  The donation was given prior to their grand opening on March 18th.  The Fire Company would like to thank WalMart managers and employees for their generosity.

Eight Members of the Waynesburg - Franklin Twp. Volunteer Fire Company completed training on operating our new Draeger Mobile LIve Fire Training Simulator.  The members were instructed on proper procedures in setting up, operating, and shutting down the simulator.  The Fire Company is in the process of requesting certification from the State Fire Academy to be able to use this equipment for Structure Burn Sessions and other Live Fire training programs.

Live Burn Simulator Delivered

Draeger Live Burn Simulator Delivered to Waynesburg Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company.  The vendor will provide training on proper usage and setup later this month.  Simulator was purchased through Premier Safety and Service,

Fire Company Takes Delivery of New Tanker

The Waynesburg - Franklin Twp. Volunteer Fire Company has taken delivery of a 2009 Kenworth 3000 Gallon Tanker.  The truck was purchased from Fouts Bros. Fire Equipment in Atlanta, Georgia.  This truck has a 500 GPM pump and 3000 Gallon Polytank.  The chassis is a 2009 Kenworth with a 360 HP Cummins Engine and Allison Automatic Transmission.  A special thanks to Larry Marshall, Jeff Marshall, Kevin Barnhart, and Adam Chapman for traveling down to Georgia and picking up this truck and bringing it back.  For those wondering, we sold our 1982 Mack Tanker to Amwell Twp. Volunteer Fire Company.

No injuries occured as a result of a kitchen fire in the 200 building at Mt. View Gardens in Waynesburg.  The fire was mostly contained to the kitchen area of the apartment.

Fire Company Trains With New Equipment

  At Barton's Junk Yard, the Fire Company was able to see first hand how to new best utilize some new rescue equipment that was purchased recently.  Two sets of struts were purchased.  This equipment will allow us to quickly stabilize vehicles that were involved in crashes.  This equipment was purchased from Fire Station Resources. 

In addition, the Fire Company got to practice using new Crash Software that quickly allows the rescuers to identify danger zones that a rescuer needs to know when attempting to extricate victims from crashes.

Fire Company Hosts Meeting of the Greene County Firemens' Association

The Waynesburg - Franklin Twp. hosted the August meeting of the Greene County Firemens' Association.  In addtion to the County Association, the Greene County Commisioners were on hand to discuss their 2008 Grant Assistance to the 16 Fire Companies in the County.  A special thank you goes out to Rich Policz for the Cookie Cakes he made for the evening.  Thanks Rich, we did not know you could do such good work.
